Bagnols-en-Foret is a small hilltop village in the Var, nestled between the Esterel of the East Var and the ancient villages of the "Pays de Fayence".
The Esterel offers striking contrasts between the flamboyant red rocks and the indigo blue of the Mediterranean. This heritage-filled corner of the Var offers a delightful voyage from Roman days to the Belle Epoque.
The Fayence area is set against a China blue blackdrop, with its ancient little villages gazing out to sea from their teetering hilltop lookout posts. Down below, the fertile slopes overflow with olive trees, mimosa and vineyards.
La Bergerie and Bagnols-en-Foret are surrounded by the natural beauty of this stunning area of South Eastern France...

Set in the heart of Provence, the Var's vineyards are the oldest in France. The Phoenicians introduced the first vines into Provence in around 600 BC. The vineyards expanded under Roman rule, and the first wines produced were rosés. Wine growing is hence a time-honoured tradition here, and the Var is currently the world's leading producer of fine rosé wines, born out of a long experience and in-depth research focusing first and foremost on quality. But Provence doesn't just produce rosé wines - its reds and whites are also widely reputed. The Var is home to no less than three Appellations d'Origine Contrôlée: Bandol, Côtes de Provence and Côteaux Varois. The Var also produces five "Vins de Pays". Recommendations are Val d'Iris, Chateau des Selves, Chateau Sainte Roseline, Chateau du Berne, Chateau des Demoiselles and the great Domaine de Mirabeau...
